Philosophy

Saltora Netaji Centenary College started its journey in 2000 with the affiliation of university of Burdwan. In the very year of college foundation, Philosophy was incorporated into curriculum as a combination (pass) subjects. In 2011, the department got the permission of introduction Honours course. Now the college is affiliated to Bankura University from 2017.

Department is consisting of one full time teacher and five SACT teachers.

Many renowned visiting teachers taught in this department and enriched our students and faculty members namely Prof. Raghunath Ghosh, Prof. Rajat Bhattacharyya, Prof IndraniBhattacherjya, Prof. Pryambada Sarkar, Prof. Tapankr. Chakraborty, Prof. DipayanPattanayak, Prof. Md. Sirajul Islam, Prof BishnupadaMahapatra, etc.,

Most of the students of our department are from financially weaker and backward section. Commonly many of them are tribal and scheduled Cast or minority classes’ students.

Department has arrange periodic lectures, seminars/workshops, students seminar, debate or quiz competitions and also try to publish their wittings as article in self-funded reference book ‘Apabrinu’ and publish yearly wall magazine ‘Srinvantu’ with deferent philosophical themes to enhance their skill and grow interest in reading and writing philosophical articles and think accordingly.

Cultural programmes like Teachers’ Day, Fresher’s Welcome are regularly organized by the students.

Many of our honours students, apart from dropouts, doing their Masters and M.Phil. Some students crack NET, SET with GRF, SSC and PTET. The warm bonding with teacher and student is the essence of the department.
